Marissa Fletcher, PhD

I am Postdoctoral Researcher in Amgen’s Neuroscience group, working in the Lagier-Tourenne Lab as part of a collaborative fellowship. During my PhD training, I explored how neuropeptide signaling contributes to aging and dietary restriction, and became very interested in how neuronal changes can impact biology at the organismal level. I am now focused on investigating TDP-43 proteinopathy in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative disorders. Through the creation of cell-based assays, I hope to establish disease-relevant neuronal models that are amenable to screening for modifiers of TDP-43-mediated pathology that could lead to the development of novel ALS therapeutic strategies.
