Shireen Salem, PhD, Post-doctoral Researcher
I joined the laboratory of Dr. Clotilde Lagier-Tourenne as a postdoctoral research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in August 2024. I obtained my PhD in Molecular Medicine at Laval University under the supervision of Dr. Francesca Cicchetti. My doctoral work mainly focused on the genetic neurodegenerative disorder Huntington’s disease, and more particularly on the role and contribution of the Tau protein to disease phenotype. During my postdoctoral training, I aim to pursue my research interest by investigating the pathogenic molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia, and focusing on the development of therapeutic strategies, in fine contributing to the improvement of patients’ life and health.
